love that i get to say that for a full year ;)
what better way to start out the new year than with jen?
rang in 2007 out in ventura with the best friend. she went all out and made a most amazing dinner! lobster tails, king crab legs, and delicious mashies. we even had the fancy little butter warmers...although those didn't work out quite as planned when the butter started boiling, spitting, and burning. after about 2 1/2 glasses of wine it seemed like a good idea to race and see who could finish the crab first. yup. i totally won that one. was there really any doubt? ;)
jen and i pretended to try to scrapbook until midnight. it just can't be done while drinking. i did make a valiant attempt at a new years page. i struggled with writing my list of resolutions...
- smile more
- laugh often
- sing louger
yea...that's right...louger. i found this so funny i taped it up on the wall and we called it quits. :)
and then we rang in the new year!
my eyes and that flash were not friends that night.
and what new year would be complete without some karaoke??? disney...karaoke. oh, we sang all the classics. part of your world. under the sea. beauty and the beast. be our guest. a whole new world. one jump ahead. now although i did not get drunk that night...i was intoxicated enough to sing my heart to these songs. hello! i grew up with this! i mean really, who didn't know the words to part of your world? ariel and her teenage angst. collecting trinkets from a world that she could only dream about. "you want thing-a-ma-bobs? i've got 20" and i'll have you know that it wasn't just the girls singing along that night. ahem.
how could you possibly top a night of singing the disney hits? throw on some 70s disco! singing and dancing? doesn't that just scream new years??? :) we thought so.
begged bill to find "i will survive". and as soon as it was on i was teaching jess how to line dance. don't you remember in the replacements when they go to jail and all start two steppin to this sweet song? ;) after all the dancing came the talking. that was just as enjoyable. lets just say i didn't call it a night until 6:30am.
dancing+singing+laughing+drinking=fab new years
and you know what i realized as i was driving home from ventura? it's nice to know there are other people out there.
